Any show that is captivating enough that my three children sit still immersed in the action for an hour is a winner in my eyes! Windy the wombat and all his friends were very funny as they told the story of how he decided to take a visit to the city for some fun after getting bored with his life at Carrick Hill. Poor Windy soon discovered that being away from his family and friends wasn’t as exciting as he thought and it wasn’t long before he was tired, hungry and homesick. All the characters Windy met in the City like the poodle, the rat and the cats made Windy realise that his simple life at home did make him happy.
The way the story was told at two different settings (Country and City) was excellent because it allowed audience participation as the characters moved between the spaces and the humour strewn through out was very funny for both adults and children. Despite the fact there were three performers; the characters were all so believable that it felt like a large cast! I also liked the fact the costumes were kept simple as was the set with the focus being more on the acting and the story that was being told. I found myself laughing out loud through out the entire performance as the performers sang songs and made jokes that were often at the adult level but still very funny for the children. Despite the heat all the characters were full of energy which kept the audience engaged the entire time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and would definitely go and see another show by On The Fly Impro.
