Burra Creek Gorge (world's end) is about 170 k's from Adelaide and sits between Robertstown and Burra in the State's mid north.
The reserve is a beautiful spot. Burra Creek runs through it, and this almost always has water. Massive river gums line the water course and the vegetation alongside the creek is always green and lush, in stark contrast to the surrounding countryside.
Birdlife is prolific, along with kangaroos.
Due to the size of the place, you are bound to be able to find a spot away from everyone else.
It is a relaxing spot to stay for a night or two and it's apparently possible to catch yabbies and trout in the creek at the right time of the year.
Unfortunately you can't have a solid fuel campfire, gas or electric fires only. Spring and Autumn would be good seasons to go. Facilities are almost non existent. There are a couple of long drop toilets along with plenty of bins around the place, but that's about it. Of course, Burra is not too far away if anything is needed.
Camping is available at the Chalks and Rocky Paddock Campground (Mount Crawford Forest) and Chookarloo Campground (Kuitpo Forest). The camping season extends from 1 April until 1 December each year. Please obtain a self-issue camping permit from either the Mount Crawford Forest or Kuitpo Forest Information Centres before you set-up.
Many people try their luck at Fossicking for gold in the local digs, you are permitted to use metal detectors, pans and sluicers, although you must acquire a permit and only dig in the assigned areas.
Adelaide Shores Caravan Park offers a huge choice of cabins which can accommodate between 2 and 6 people priced to suit any budget. All cabins include TV, reverse cycle air conditioning, cooking facilities and all linen. There are also plenty of options with our powered caravan sites such as double sites, ensuite sites, and grass or slab surfaces. Tent mats also available.
In the centre of the Park you will find two heated pools, a giant jumping pillow, half-court tennis, the games room and TV room plus an outdoor playground. Due to popular demand, we now have a second jumping pillow and playground in the southern part of the Park.
A Beautiful town and a family favorite, Visit the Blue Lake, feed the possums in the Umpherston Sinkhole explore the Valley Lake wildlife park and caves.
